During the 1960s (Mercury-Apollo era) where hand picked aviators underwent stringent training before being accepted into the Astronaut Corp, an astonishing 1 in 4 Apollo astronauts were left-handed – 250% more than the normal level of probability.
These lefty spacemen included two in the Apollo 11 crew that were first to land on the moon in 1969 – Buzz Aldrin and Mike Collins (the 3rd member of the Apollo 11 crew who stayed in the command module during the moon walk.
