Left-Handers Day History
On 13th August 1992 the Club launched International Left-Handers Day, an annual event when left-handers everywhere can celebrate their sinistrality and increase public awareness of the advantages and disadvantages of being left-handed. This event is now celebrated worldwide, and in the U.K. alone there have been more than 20 regional events to mark the day in recent years – including left-v-right sports matches, a left-handed tea party, pubs using left-handed corkscrews where patrons drank and played pub games with the left hand only, and nationwide “Lefty Zones” where left-handers creativity, adaptability and sporting prowess were celebrated, whilst right-handers were encouraged to try out everyday left-handed objects to see just how awkward it can feel using the wrong equipment!
These events have contributed more than anything else to the general awareness of the difficulties and frustrations left-handers experience in everyday life, and have successfully led to improved product design and greater consideration of our needs by the right-handed majority – although there is still a long way to go!!
The Left-Handers Club
The Left-Handers Club was formed in 1990 aiming to keep members in touch with developments, make their views known to manufacturers and others, provide a help & advice line, to promote research into left-handedness and development of new left-handed items.Since its formation the Club has gone from strength to strength with members all over the world and is highly regarded as the foremost pressure group and advice centre on all aspects of left-handedness.

Didn’t know that there is such a day and so many remarkable persons.
Recalled when I first entered school, felt awkward that i am a left handed unlike the rest of my classmates.
Both my sons are left-handers, though none else in our lineage is sinistral. The offspring of my sons again are not left-handers. In fact, just before my sons got married, 50% of our family were southpaws.
This is pretty cool. My Birthday is August 13th.
Left handed people are a blessing, not a curse!
Well my parents are really supportive they let me do what I want I’m an all round left handed person but discrimination came from people outside they tend to bully me both in school and other places, A supervisor once said I lack home training
it hurts though because Nigeria sees it as an abomination for girls to be left handed sometimes I cry other times I become repulsive and they think I’m sassy. My family members support me though and I have learnt to build a shield that protects me from discriminators, some people also love me just like that. I’m a proud left hander just as I’m a proud black
Happy Left Handers Day
Didn’t know that there is such a day and so many remarkable persons.
Recalled when I first entered school, felt awkward that i am a left handed.
Recalled asking my father as to why didn’t train me to write with right hand.
He just said that I never listened and I am always using my left hand to do things.
Happy Left Handed Day
why was the 13th of Aug picked for left-handers day?
I have suffered so much discrimination as a left hander. Sometimes i feel very thing wrong in my life is because i am left handed. I just hope the right handed people understand that they are no better than us.
Hi! I’m left handed too..
hang in there ~ I was teased all my life by family because I was different — left handed! God has a little trick he plays and almost all of my cousins had a left handed child!
