How left handed are you?

We all have our own view of whether we are left-handed or not and, ultimately, that is the the test - if you consider yourself to be left-handed then you are! That said, most people are mixed in their handedness and it is rare for people to do everything with just one hand or side of their body. Our test below will show which side you use for various tasks and how consistent you are in the use of your hands. It will also give you give you an overall score out of 100 for your level of left-handedness and you can see how you compare to other people. To get the overall score, we have weighted the various factors so, for example, writing left-handed gets a far higher weighting in the overall score than which way you hold a bat two-handed (see this page for more information on how we did this).

I feel that I’m left-handed. I was raised right-handed. So, one day changed my awareness. I noticed my left hand has power. I was trying Squash for the first time. And my left hand was hitting the ball stronger than my right – the ball was bouncing back farther and harder, I wasn’t even trying. I wasn’t trained. This was my first time. I also had done the body fat lean body mass control exam at the sports club, and my results wowed the fitness coach. She said I don’t think I’ve seen that. My right arm and left arm segmental lean analysis came equal, which means the muscle mass in my right arm was exactly THE SAME NUMBER of that of my left arm. A number to two decimal places. Do you work out she asked. I said I’m just starting! I recall her saying people try to do that (to have both arms as strong when they’re lifting), but it’s hard. That opened up my mind. I started paying attention. I tried to do different things with my left hand to the point my psychology needed to be lifted – “Does it matter? I guess it doesn’t matter if I’m lefty or righty. That’s how I was trained. I guess it doesn’t matter.” I told myself to move forward. Is the brain different?
UNTIL I played thumb war with my son, who always wins, and he’s, I was like let’s try the left hand, and I felt my thumb maneuver was superb, I started comparing my thumb maneuver. My left thumb is more agile than my right one. I won. Then I remembered this video “[Link deleted]and I did the test with my son, and I had more things that I prefer to naturally use my left hand, and even some unpredictably. THEN I remembered my mom, who told me that her mom used to say it’s unholy to use the left hand so that kids don’t become different from others and say. I also remembered a distinct memory I have, drinking from a can of soda, and I was mature enough to do that. I poured on my cheek when I thought I was already drinking in my mouth; my coordination was off. I raise my hand, I have bad math (not solving, but multiplication memorization). I remembered I used to say “so good so far”. I don’t know if that’s related. Am I left-handed? was a question I asked myself. Today my score showed 40-60 – Mixed-handed. Two answers surprised me today, that if I had to choose, I would choose to brush my hair with my left hand and pick up a spoon with my left hand (even though I was trained to use the right, but I like the left). I immediately texted my mom, telling her about the study mentioned in the video. Moving forward, I want to brush my teeth with my left hand (I always brushed my teeth with my right hand – funny enough, I had a bad habit of brushing my teeth). I want to brush my hair with my left hand. I want to write with my left, but not necessarily all the time.
Thank you for this study. Please let me know if any of this resonates with you. I hope you will find this helpful. Thanks.
