How Left Are You?
You may be more left-handed than you think
Left-handedness test
We all, of course, know in which hand we hold a pen, but how far does this bias extend throughout your body? Are you left-eared? Left eyed? Here is a simple test you can apply to yourself.
- Imagine the centre of your back is itching. Which hand do you scratch it with?
- Interlock your fingers. Which thumb is uppermost?
- Imagine you are applauding. Start clapping your hands. Which hand is uppermost?
- Wink at an imaginary friend straight in front of you. Which eye does the winking?
- Put your hands behind your back, one holding the other. Which hand is doing the holding?
- Someone in front of you is shouting but you cannot hear the words. Cup your ear to hear better. Which ear do you cup?
- Count to three on your fingers, using the forefinger of the other hand. Which forefinger do you use?
- Tilt your head over on to one shoulder. Which shoulder does it touch?
- Fixate a small distant object with your eyes and point directly at it with your forefinger. Now close one eye. Now change eyes. Which eye was open when the fingertip remained in line with the small object? (When the other eye, the non-dominant one, is open and the dominant eye is closed, the finger will appear to move to one side of the object.)
- Fold your arms. Which forearm is uppermost?
If you have always considered yourself to be right or left-handed you will probably now have discovered that your body is less than total in its devotion to its favoured side. If you are right-handed the chances are that you were not able to be 'right' 10 times.

I am a real lefty(ok in this test I haven't done everything left) but my grip of the pencil is in difference from other leftys even my father told me that you can't notice the difference because I hold a spoon, pen etc. normal like rightys without the so called hook grip!!!!

I have always done everything with both hands equally, except throwing a ball. I am naturally a right handed person. When I was about 7 I remember switching my fork to my other hand and eating with my left. One of my friends (right handed) noticed and said that I was doing it wrong. I was furious that someone would tell me I wasnt eating my food right!!
I went home that day and asked my mom if I was left or right handed and she said what hand do you write with? I said right because at that time it was the hand I usually started out using. She said I was right handed. After that day it botherd me that I was doing things wrong because I was doing things with my left hand. I was mad at myself because people would tease me for being a freak because both of my hands were equally "strong". I remember as I got older I would spend hours per day looking at sites trying to figure out what was wrong with me. Then one day I was reading a fictional book when I was around 12 that said the word ambidextrous. I was amazed at what the word meant. I finally knew what was "wrong" with me. I took this test today and realized I do alot of things with my left hand(8/10)that I hadnt noticed before. I am now almost 14 years old and I am big on sports. ESPECILAY SOFTBALL!
And you guessed it, I can bat equally well with both hands, but recently I have been exercising my ability to bat left handed. some of my friends still tell me I am strange that I can do things with both hands, but I just tell them i was meant to be ambidextrous for a reason.:)
to all of those of you who think you may be ambidextrous, dont hide it express it. dont be afraid to be different, I was but im not now. When people ask me if I am right or left handed I simply reply, I am ambidextrous. Good Luck to those who may have the same problem I DID!

I do everything left-handed practically but with bats (cricket, baseball, golf etc.) i hold it right handed.

Even if this test isn't accurate science, it hinds that your son is both-handed (Or change-handed, don't klnow, if this the correct english term, I'm German). I myselfa are lefty by nature, but have been aked (not forced!) to use my right hand in writing and others. Mostly I use my left hand for fine-motoric things like writing sms, using the comp-mouse or alike, I write with my right, and some things I do with both hand equally. (But not much)
Being a real "bothy" ccould be a problem, I think. I can read and write upside down an mirror, not as fast as "normal", but quite fair. Gibe your son time to adjust to his favorite side: His brain has still to sort it out, an it has still time. Don't force him to one side or try to "teach" him one side. this will really mess his brain up! patience! He will make his way!
I'm 47, and on some things I still have to think ahead, on which hand to use

My son is nearly 9years old. He has been tested and everything incl brain, eye, hand and foot are rigt dominant. He battles at school especially with reading. His score for the above test was 5 left and 5 right. Could it help if I now try to turn him into a left-hander. His father is a lefty. We need help.

Ambidextrous but more left than right.
I used to shoot a pistol equally with both hands, when I changed gun I now prefer right hand shooting.
Fork and knife with knife in right hand. Spoon in left hand. Using a knife for anything else always left hand.
Shoot a rifle and play a guitar right-handed too.

In this quiz, I do everything in the lefty way. I also use my left hand for the PC , eating (knife hand), bowling etc, and in all left handedness tests, my result is...lefty. Despite the fact I'm a BORN righty, I hold the pencil like most leftys I know!!! (hook grip)

Finally, 1oo% in a test! I've always said that if you cut off my right arm it would take me a week to notice as long as I didn't need to hang my handbag on it. I hadn't realised my choice of shoulder was another leftie trait.

I was actually switched in pre-school and made to write with my right hand. I started out in special ed and they figured I could adjust better being a rightie. Wrong for the most part. I do throw and bowl better right handed but I do most everything else left handed like shoot a gun, use tools, weld, eat and so forth. I'm also left eye dominant. I even re-taught myself how to write left handed in 6th grade because I did everything else left handed. I do now write with both hands. My hand writing is better left handed of course. I can also use scissors with both hands and I'm fairly good with both actually, although a bit better with my left hand.
