This simple survey will tell you how left-handed you are and give you an overall score you can compare to the thousands of others who have taken the test.
You can see our analysis of the test results so far here.
So go ahead and tick the options for which hand you use for various things and see how you rate overall…
How left handed are you?
We all have our own view of whether we are left-handed or not and, ultimately, that is the the test - if you consider yourself to be left-handed then you are! That said, most people are mixed in their handedness and it is rare for people to do everything with just one hand or side of their body. Our test below will show which side you use for various tasks and how consistent you are in the use of your hands. It will also give you give you an overall score out of 100 for your level of left-handedness and you can see how you compare to other people. To get the overall score, we have weighted the various factors so, for example, writing left-handed gets a far higher weighting in the overall score than which way you hold a bat two-handed (see this page for more information on how we did this).
Thank you for these tests. I did go to Catholic school at a time they discouraged leftys but I don’t recall being forced to be right-handed. I always used both hands and was clumsy but my epiphany was working at my uncle’s deli and on a busy night he’d ask me to help count money at closing. My uncle was a true lefty and was completely confused that I counted money left-handed and was accurate, which amazed me because he was a lefty. My dad was a lefty. When I was a kid I couldn’t tie my shoes and it frustrated mom, so my dad said don’t sit next to her trying to teach her, sit across from her. Voila! I tied my shoes! I don’t dwell on this because I think a lot of people are mixed-handed, I guess the true meaning of being ambidextrous is that you can write with both hands…I learned after I had a bad fall several years ago breaking ny right arm that I could print lefty barely. I really think a lot of people are mixed-handed, it’s the little things like I hang my clothes opposite from my husband, I put the paper towels on the dispenser opposite from what he does, I throw right but bat left in softball, I just think it is what it is.
I shoot a bow & arrow and rifle left handed, but shoot a handgun right handed.
Only right handed scissors, baseball mitts around when I was a kid, so right handed.
In school, to accommodate those irritating right hand desks, I wrote write handed on the right side of a notebook spiral and left hand mirror writing on the flip side of the paper.
Impressed my (German)mother in law the first time that we met by holding my fork in left hand and knife in right. My husband laughed and told her that I was just left handed.
How lefty am I
The only reason I cut with my left hand is because there were three left handed kids in my kindergarten class and only two pairs of left handed scissors.
With the exception of that, I am 100% left handed.
Got a few more not on the test..Shot rifle and bow & arrow lefty…. ran hurdles & high jump lefty…but did learn to play a guitar righty. (93%) on the test
Neat test.
